Boards Of Canada: The Campfire Headphase
Buy! - (Warp)
This is the third full-length album (and fifth release overall) from this Scottish duo released on seminal UK electronic music label, Warp. Although I love everything they’ve put out, I think this is the best thing they’ve done since their astonishing debut full-length album, Music Has The Right To Children (1998). For the first time, they’ve incorporated guitars into their sound (or at least it’s the first time you can clearly make out that they’re guitars), but not at the expense of that trademark detuned, hypnotic, magical sound that has endeared them to legions of devout fans all over the world. Not since Aphex Twin has an electronic music artist garnered such reverence, and one listen to this latest release from Boards of Canada is all it takes to remind us why. 11/9/2005 - Don Yates
