- (Transmit Sound/Legacy)
While it was nice to see Jay Farrar experimenting with his sound on his recent solo albums, he plays to his strengths here for his most satisfying release in quite awhile. The band members may have changed, but the crunchy roots-rock sound will be familiar to long-time fans, as will Farrar’s evocative, often politically-charged lyrics, which aren’t as cryptic as they’re sometimes made out to be, though as usual he prefers not to spell things out in linear fashion. 6/30/2005
