This Georgia-bred singer’s second album is another fine outing of old-school funk and soul, highlighted by some nasty, James Brown-inspired gutbucket grooves and her own masterful vocals. While she carried her first album with raw enthusiasm, here she’s much more subtle, and more powerfully expressive. 2/18/2005
