Steve Earle: The Revolution Starts...Now
Buy! - (Artemis)
The outspoken country-rocker follows up his politically charged album Jerusalem with an even stronger political statement. While there are a couple of love songs near the end to mix it up a bit, most of the album finds Earle eager to stir things up, joyously slamming the FCC, writing a facetious love song to National Security Advisor Condoleeza Rice, addressing the Iraq War from the perspective of the folks caught up in it, and advocating revolution against the status quo. Last time around, he mucked up his songs with some dubious production choices – this time he delivers the roots-rock straight-up, and his songs are all the better for it. 7/13/2004 - Don Yates
