Junior's new one features only a couple of guitar workouts, but while his mastery of the "guit-steel" deserves the attention it receives, it's nice to see the spotlight shining on other sides of his considerable talent. Brown's a fine songwriter with a penchant for those classic country turns-of-phrase, and his deep and flat Ernest Tubb-style vocals are equally convincing with clever novelties and heartbreak ballads.
