Greg Garing: Alone
Buy! - (Paladin/Revolution)
Greg Garing played fiddle in the bands of Peter Rowan and bluegrass legend and Jimmy Martin. He then went solo and developed a lonesome retro honky-tonk sound straight out of the late '40s that had the underground buzzing in Nashville -- enough to spawn the Lower Broadway scene that led to the emergence of BR5-49. Somewhere along the way, Garing became enamored with electronica, and this album is the result -- old-school country melodies and lyrics and Garing's soulful nasality wedded to modern dance rhythms and textures. He knows how to construct a good pop hook and his fusion of such disparate sensibilities is seamless. 8/15/1997 - Don Yates
