Brooklyn-based musician Anand Wilder's name may appear new, but his voice has been a staple on KEXP's airwaves for nearly 15 years as a founding member of Yeasayer. Prior to calling it quits just a few months before the COVID-19 lockdown of March 2020, the band's swirling, psychedelic, genre-blurring music consistently surprised and delighted over five studio albums and countless tours around the world. A veteran touring musician and ceaselessly collaborative bandmate, Anand found revitalized creative inspiration during quarantine while sharing his favorite childhood songs – The Beatles, Cat Stevens, Fairport Convention all in heavy rotation – with his two young daughters. These listening sessions led to his own late-night writing and recording sessions, steering him towards an organic, earthy, song-focused folk sound quite far removed from the arty explorations of his former band. Two years in the making, Anand released his solo debut album I Don't Know My Words on March 25th via Last Gang Records. (Read more about it here.)
