Last night, Pearl Jam played the first of two “home shows” taking place at Safeco Field. The beloved local band played a massive 33-song set that included a number of covers including Neil Young’s “Throw You Hatred Down,” The Beatles’ “Help,” and The White Stripes’ “We’re Going to Be Friends.” The White Stripes cover came during their first encore and saw Eddie Vedder do an acoustic solo take on the 2001 White Blood Cells track. Pearl Jam will play their second home show this Friday, August 10. Pearl Jam is donating 10% of the proceeds from The Home Shows to battle homelessness in King County. Below, watch live video of Pearl Jam’s take on “We’re Going to Be Friends” and watch a live in-studio KEXP session with John Doe and Mike McCready from 2014.
