Scottish indie band We Were Promised Jetpacks are releasing their fourth studio album in the 15 years of being a band on Sept. 14. Titled The More I Sleep the Less I Dream, the album follows 2014’s Unravelling and was made after scrapping nearly an entire album of songs. "The first batch of songs were written for the wrong reason," guitarist Michael Palmer previously explained. "We put a lot of pressure on ourselves and ended up writing a certain kind of song. Focusing more on choruses and structure, trying to simplify everything."
Today, the quartet has shared “Repeating Patterns,” the second single off the album, following “Hanging In.” The pummeling track comes with a video from Mathew Marchlewski that takes place in an alternate sock puppet world. "We only first saw the video a few days ago and we absolutely love it,” proclaims the band. “Thanks to Mathew Marchlewski, Adam Keene, Poppy Garcia, and Ashley Spencer for making such a perfect video. We hope everyone enjoys listening to it as much as we enjoy playing it."
We Were Promised Jetpacks go on to say: "'Repeating Patterns' is one of the first songs we wrote for this album. It’s been getting a great reception at our shows and has become a really important song for us. Our goal when recording was to not tame it and keep it as raw and raucous as it is live."
