A little over a year ago Ever So Android moved from their hometown of Seattle to Los Angeles. While it’s always sad to see a local band leave, ESA’s unique brand of dark electrorock does seem perfectly suited for a city of (fallen) angels. Since leaving, the duo of Drew Murray and Hope Simpson have been making their way through the Los Angeles music venue circuit, gaining momentum and moving mountains one show at a time. Today, the band has shared the newest product from their time away from the Emerald City, a single from the forthcoming EP Castles titled “Kings and Queens.”

The glitchy track buzzes and bursts, with the anxiety building until it’s ready to “Crash, crash, crash until there’s nothing at all.” The duo’s influences such as The Dead Weather and Nine Inch Nails are painted throughout the song, with the added signature dirty glitz typical of ESA.”We approached writing this song differently than we have with any of our others,” the duo explain in a statement. “We really wanted to focus on creating imagery, something that we don’t normally do. We wanted to make a commentary about the flood of greed that seems to be sweeping the world right now, but also acknowledge that we’re more than we give ourselves credit for.”

Castles is the first new material we’ve gotten from ESA since 2016’s The Civil EP but it marks a new commitment from the duo to release a steady stream of new music - four songs every four months, to be exact. “Castles for us was about Ever So Android rebuilding, in a way. After leaving our home town and going back to our original line up, we had a lot to rediscover about ourselves,” says the band. “With Castles finished, we’re already working on our next ep and are aiming to have it finished by January of 2019. So, Castles is the first in our series of records that we're producing and mixing ourselves… a foundation of sorts."

With a loyalty to their hometown, Ever So Android are returning to Seattle to celebrate the release of Castles. Bringing a stellar lineup of friend-bands including Among Authors (who will make their KEXP in-studio debut the day before), Fruit Juice, and Dirty Dirty, the show will take place at the Crocodile this Saturday, August 25. Trust that you don’t want to miss out on being “Kings and Queens” for a night as we welcome back Seattle royalty.
