KEXP Rocks the Dock at Waterfront Park 7/7

KEXP Presents

Martin Douglas

In what world does spending an afternoon hanging out on a dock with scenic views not sound like a good idea? This Satuday, July 7th, KEXP will return to Waterfront Park to rock the dock with a handful of very special guests. The free(!), all-ages event will feature the slyly boundary-pushing rap of Stas THEE Boss and Nappy Nina, the soulful hip-hop band combination of Sound Off! semifinalists Misundvrstood & Gypsy Temple, and multihyphenate soul group Breaks and Swells, and our very own host of Sunday Soul, OCNotes, will be DJing and emceeing the event. In its third year, Rocks the Dock, part of the annual Hot Spot series presented by Friends of Waterfront Seattle, is the first of a series of events intended to bring our community together and establish the waterfront as a destination for cultural events, beginning with our kickoff on Saturday and and finishing up on Labor Day Weekend.

Did I mention it's free and all-ages?

Waterfront Park is located right between Seattle Aquarium and the Great Wheel, which is an excellent spot to spend a summer day even when there aren't awesome musical performances happening. Abounds are scenic views of Elliott Bay, which will more than likely be bustling with activity on a weekend with such potentially great weather, and there is always the option of taking a ride on the Great Wheel while taking in some equally great music. For those ages 21 and up, there will be a beer garden provided by Fisherman's Restaurant. The event will last from 3-7pm, naturally the sweet spot of any summer afternoon. This year's Rocks the Dock is shaping up to be an early-summer highlight not to be missed.
