Los Angeles psych rockers Wand are on the verge of releasing a new EP called Perfume. Today, they’ve shared its title track, a sprawling seven-and-a-half minute track that midway through picks up tempo and rollicks towards the finish. The song follows lead single “The Gift." They released their last studio album, Plum, last fall. The description of Perfume, per their Bandcamp page, states: “Smells like 30 new minutes of new music via seven new electric hues, shocks of light that flagrantly provoke the dark, a posy’s clutch of purple, fuchsia, green and snowy white that curl against the stench of plague. With 'Perfume,' Wand presents olfactory events that recall futures and pasts.” Perfume is out May 25 via Drag City. [ Stereogum ]

Legendary Los Angeles grunge band L7 has announced that they’ll be releasing their first album nearly 20 years. The band reunited in 2015 and, since then, have played a handful of shows and released the songs “Dispatch From Mar-a-Lago” and “I Came Back To Bitch.” In order to fund the new album, the quartet started a Pledgemusic campaign where supporters can preorder the album and purchase various bundles. Perks include “exclusive access to the band via video updates, limited addition merch, signed rarities and other such bad ass-ery.” L7’s last album was 1999’s Slap-Happy. [ SPIN ]

IAN SWEET released their debut album Shapeshifter all the way back in 2016 but, today, the band has revisited it with a video for the title track. Directed by Alix Spence, the clip features shots of project leader Jillian Medford singing alone in a dark room, while drawings by Sarah Schmidt animate around her. IAN SWEET are embarking on a short tour with a stop in Seattle on Tuesday, April 17 at Neumos. Shapeshifter is out now on Hardly Art. [ Stereogum ]
