Soccer Mommy’s Sophie Allison is about to head out on tour with country musician Kacey Musgraves and ahead of that, Allison is showing her Nashville roots with a cover of Dixie Chicks’ 1998 breakthrough hit “Wide Open Spaces.”

“I’m a huge Dixie Chicks fan,” Allison says in a press release. “I think ‘Wide Open Spaces’ is one of those perfect ’90s alt country songs. Plus it’s relatable to any girl who’s moved away from home and had to start a new life somewhere. Covering it was super fun and I’m really happy with the turn out.”

This year, Allison released her fantastic debut album Clean and has recently shared a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m On Fire” as well as a collaborative single with HEALTH and Purity Ring’s Corrin Roddick.

Listen to Allison’s “Wide Open Spaces” cover via Amazon Music and watch her KEXP in-studio performance from this summer below.
