  • Sigur Rós frontman Jónsi has shared a new solo track -- stream the single "Simple Gifts" below, a take on a traditional Shaker song originally written in 1848 by Elder Joseph Brackett. This modern version will appear on the upcoming soundtrack for the movie The Circle, starring Tom Hanks and Emma Watson, and adapted from a Dave Eggers’ novel of the same name. The film will be scored by Danny Elfman, which is always a good thing. The Circle will be in theaters on April 28th. [ Pitchfork ]

  • UK artist PJ Harvey has begun her North American tour in support of last year's LP The Hope Six Demolition Project. Last night, she stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to perform "The Community of Hope" with a full band, horn section, and fancy hat. Watch below. The Hope Six Demolition Project is out now via Vagrant, and Harvey plays Seattle's WaMu Theater on Friday, May 5th. [ Under the Radar ]

  • GRLMIC is a cool new organization that "aims to support and empower a diverse spectrum of young women/ non-binary youth through music." And they're kicking it off in a cool way with GRLMIC VOL1, a compilation featuring Seattle's own Lisa Prank and Julia Shapiro (of Chastity Belt), as well as Sad13 aka Sadie Dupuis of Speedy Ortiz. Hear her take on the Carole King classic “It’s Too Late” below, swapping out piano for synthesizers and fuzzy feedback. Proceeds from the comp go to Planned Parenthood and the Willie Mae Rock Camp. Listen here. [ Consequence of Sound ]

  • Last month, we shared a new track from 90s grunge survivor Mark Lanegan. Today, we've got a video for that track -- watch a clip for "Beehive" below, directed by Zhang + Knight. The directors have crafted the story of two vampires struggling with addiction, something Lanegan himself has endured. The new album Gargoyle will be out April 24th on Heavenly Recordings.
