Few bands are more iconic in Iceland than GusGus. Starting some 20 years ago, more arts collective than musical act, GusGus broke from their cinematographic origins and through to mainland Europe and the world in the mid 90's with their eclectic electronica assembly of techno, deep house, dance-pop, trip-hop, R&B and other influences, on which, like all Icelanders, they put their own spin. Now a group of three, compared to the original nine, GusGus is led by producer Birgir Þórarinsson (a.k.a. Biggi Veira), who sculpts sound structures to elevate the dynamic vocal talents of longtime member Daníel Ágúst Haraldsson and newer golden child Högni Egilsson (also of Hjaltalín). Together, at KEX Hostel in Reykjavik during KEXP's Iceland Airwaves broadcast, they turned the packed house into a gyrating dance floor as they featured tracks from their 2014 release, Mexico.
