  • Wimps - Take It As It Comes (MP3)

Seattle trio Wimps have consistently been offering quality punk drenched in cynicism and humor for a while now. It's earned them a partnership with Kill Rock Stars and the title of Seattle's Best Punk Band, but on their new EP, Super Me, the group shows they aren't above the conundrums of everyday life. From a ballad to leftovers on aptly titled "Leftovers" to the rejection of second hand debauchery on "Sloppy Seconds", the EP contains a humorous look at the everyday tied together by instrumentation that'll kick you in the face. Today's featured song, "Take It As It Comes", may be the best representation of the theme, as lead singer Rachel Ratner lists various unpleasantries of life before chanting "I'm fine I'm fine I'm fine." Stuttering guitar riffs compliment staccato lyrics before things unwind, encouraging you to head bang your problems away. Life sucks sometimes, but Wimps makes taking it as it comes a whole lot more pleasant.

You can hear Wimps LIVE at KEXP on Audioasis, this Saturday, September 12th, at 8:30 PM. They will also be releasing a full length LP before the end of the year. Until then, keep up with the band on their Facebook and Bandcamp pages and check out the title track to the Super Me EP:
