I hope you made it out to Hood-to-Hood Day 2015 in West Seattle last month. On Friday, May 29, more than 3,500 music lovers like you turned out to enjoy free performances by The Mountain Goats, Miami Horror, Hop Along, and Telekinesis, with a street fair and beer garden, plus evening showcases throughout the neighborhood. It was a blast!
KEXP’s 10th Annual Hood-to-Hood Challenge—the battle to host next year’s Hood-to-Hood Day—coincides with our One-Day Summer Fundraising Drive this Friday, June 12. But starting today, when you donate to KEXP and power "music that matters," you can vote for whatever Seattle neighborhood you choose (even if you live in another city).
At the end of the One-Day Summer Drive, we’ll tally up all your gifts. The 'hood that shows the most support wins a party next year, complete with live music, KEXP DJs, discounts from local merchants, and much more.
Since KEXP initiated its annual Hood-to-Hood Challenge in 2006, Ballard, West Seattle, Capitol Hill and the U District have all won. Artists that have played previous KEXP Hood-to-Hood Day celebrations include Sera Cahoone, The Faint, Cloud Cult, The Moondoggies, The Maldives, Damien Jurado, Buffalo Tom, Joan As Police Woman, Shabazz Palaces, and Deep Sea Diver.
Show your civic pride by making a gift to KEXP right now as part of the 2015 Hood-to-Hood Challenge. No matter which neighborhood emerges victorious, everybody wins when you support great music.
Since its inception in 2010, more than 6,400 music lovers like you have elected to support KEXP as members of our Amplifiers Monthly Giving Club. Those ongoing monthly gifts enable us to abbreviate our Summer Fundraising Drive to a single day and play more music during the month of June. Hooray!
Just a few weeks ago, KEXP took over the streets of West Seattle for our Hood-to-Hood Day 2015 celebration with live music from John Danielle of The Mountain Goats, Australian electro-pop group Miami Horror, Michael Lerner of Telekinesis, and howling indie-rockers Hop Along.
