Song of the Day: The Besnard Lakes - Golden Lion

Montreal group The Besnard Lakes take their inspiration from an actual lake of the same name. And while their style of prog-rock meets shoe gaze may not immediately conjure images of the outdoors, the way their layers of sound settle into grooves cant be described as anything but natural. The group has used the patient progression and build up of sounds along with beautiful harmonies to captivate audiences for years, and their forthcoming album, A Complex Coliseum Museum, is sure to follow the trend. Today's featured song, "Golden Lions", currently released as a 12" and a taste of the upcoming album, features a chugging bass line that establishes a deep running groove from the start. Vocals laden with harmonies saunter over the chime of guitar, solidifying "Golden Lion" as another The Besnard Lakes masterpiece.
