It started with the Mom Show, a dedication by KEXP Morning Show host and producer John Richards as way to honor his mother after she passed away from cancer. The show touched so many listeners, who themselves have all been touched by the memory and loss of loved ones, that the show became a much requested annual feature. This year, John decided to gather a local crowd at Seattle's Town Hall for a night to share his inspirations for the show and take an honest look at how a community comes together to share their experiences of death and music. He was joined by local artists Rocky Votolato, Noah Gundersen, Sean Nelson, and Shelby Earl, who each shared their own personal stories though talk and song. It was a special and cathartic night for those in attendance, one that we felt needed to be also shared with the global KEXP community, so we captured these moments of raw emotion on video to share with all of you at this time of the year when our loved ones are most likely to be in our minds.
