It’s time again for Friday on My Mind. Our weekly blog post where we look at videos centered around one common theme. This is a collaborative effort between KEXP and King 5 News. I doesn't feel more like summer to me than when the Concerts at the Mural begin. We present these free shows along with The Seattle Center, and TONIGHT we’re starting off our 2014 edition of the Mural concerts with a Donor Appreciation Night theme. This is our way of saying thank you to each and every donor who powers KEXP and community events, such as these Mural concerts. We're asking that everyone sport their favorite KEXP t-shirt, and while wearing your shirt, stop in and say hi over at the KEXP tent and we'll enter you into a giveaway to score a gaggle of KEXP goods.

And now here is a taste of what you will be in for during the month of August at the Mural Amplitheater...Charles Bradley - Lovin’ You, Baby (Live on KEXP) Tonight!!! For donor appreciation night, we'be brought the absolutely amazing Charles Bradley and his Extraordinaires all the way from Brooklyn, New York to put on a show you won't ever forget. If you've seen Bradley in concert before, you know that this man goes above and beyond, and gives it more than his all when in front of an audience. If you're lucky, he may give you a hug too. The man loves to give hugs. YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS CHARLES BRADLEY. Seriously. If you don’t believe me, watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6slbqEMiKsI

Lee Bains III & The Glory Fires- The Kudzu and the Concrete (Live on KEXP) Out of Alabama, Lee Bains II & the Glory Fires will be performing as a part of our Swingin’ Roadhouse night on the 22nd, co-hosted by Don Slack and Greg Vandy. That sounds like a whole lotta twang for y'all, which is going to be awesome in a dusty sort of way. Here is footage from the recent performance on KEXP from Lee Bains last month: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6d-TsqX8yg Yppah Featuring Anomie Belle- Blue Schwinn (Live on KEXP) Yppah’s 2009 album they Know What Ghosts Know was a favorite of mine. Vocals throughout the album were provided by Portland based singer-songwriter Anomie Belle. Come out to see both perform on Friday the 8th as a part of our Decibel night with our own Kid Hops and Decibel founder Sean Horton, aka DJ Nordic Soul.

Honorable Mentions:

A Place to Bury Strangers - I Lived My Life (Live on KEXP) These Brooklynites are loud. Make your ears bleed listening to them on Friday the 15th along with Portland’s Battleme, and Seattle’s own Wimps. Their upcoming album was written after a solid year of touring, and is set to be released later this Fall.

Katie Kate - Rushmore Here’s a searing one from Kate Finn aka Katie Kate. Keeping Seattle proud. She killed it for KEXP when she performed as a part of this year’s lineup at Hood to Hood Day in Ballard from Hilliard's Beer and Taproom. From her new album Nation, here is her lazer sharp KEXP performance of “Rushmore”: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fz-ZN6i3pjQ
