Why is it that with so many intriguing bands, you hear they formed without the intention of playing out, that they were just collaborative efforts for the members themselves? Perhaps it's because when artists make art for themselves, there is a sense of integrity, of personal experimentation and exploration - and not a thrust for worldly fame. Well, in the case of Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., the band started out just this way in 2009, with Detroit musicians Daniel Zott and Joshua Epstein playing together, just to see what would happen! Thankfully, the two decided to share their quirky collaboration with the rest of us. And quirky they are, right down to their name, which, Zott and Epstein say, was suggested as a joke despite having no ties to the famous NASCAR driver. The thought was that if you can accept this sort of silly name then you can accept whatever kind of music comes forth. Well, prepare to leave your expectations behind and see for yourself what Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. is really all about:
