On the eve of the release of their new EP, False Starts, Seattle band The Young Evils stopped by KEXP to squeeze out their brand of infectious sultry soundscapes until our tiny live room walls were dripping in all elements of retro cool. From the rocking spaghetti western whimsy of "Get Your Guns" to the Blondie inspired new wave punk of "It Happens All The Time", the band tiptoes on the fine line between joyful and jaded with their addictive nostalgic ditties. The Young Evils are among the small minority of groups gifted with the innate ability of making complex musical arrangements sound simple and catchy, and this is an ecstatic dose of instantly approachable melodies and heartfelt hymns that you need to hear.
