We woke up Kex Hostel this morning with a surprise dorm room performance by DJ flugvél & geimskip, who rolled in all her equipment on a cart equipped with a speaker, lit incense, turned on some DJ lights, and greeted the sleepy travelers with charming electronic backed songs about evil cats, magic window snakes, and a drum slave. You kind of had to be there, but it was great. She closed the set by giving the small audience some sage advice, "Have fun every day, all future!" We couldn't agree more. This surprise mini show wasn't broadcast live, but we'll have the video up in a few weeks.

The good news for folks wanting to connect with the sights and sounds of the incredibly vibrant Iceland Airwaves festival is that we will be broadcasting five more killer sets today from the best off venue site of Reykjavik. Kevin Cole is continuing his takeover of the Morning Show from 6am-10am PST, and Cheryl Waters will be on the Midday Show as usual (if broadcasting from a hip hostel 3,612 miles from home is usual). We love that we now have the capability to not only broadcast these shows live on the air on 90.3FM in Seattle and stream them online, but for the first time from a foreign land, we are able to bring you an amazing front row view of the action as it happens. Here's a look at the schedule for today. Stay tuned for artist bios and show reviews for each and every one of these shows on the KEXP Blog.
