Sonic Reducer brings you three hours of the best in local, national, international punk and hardcore. Your hosts, Brian, Nick and Mr. West drag you through a mess of short, fast and loud songs from today and back in the day every Saturday night from 9pm to midnight. You can email them here.
Mr. West hosted a variety show and subbed for The Punk Show and Extreme Noise (the metal show) at KWVA 88.1 University of Oregon Campus Radio (1998-2000). From 2000 to 2002 he volunteered at the record shop Extreme Noise, in Minneapolis, MN, and was the co-founder of Out Of Step, the punk specialty show on Radio K, University of Minnesota Community Radio. A volunteer for KEXP since 2003, he is obviously a lover of music, "especially the fast kind."

Great live shows Crash Normal, the Mayyors
Since stumbling into punk and hardcore by way of late-80s thrash metal, Nick has been involved with the music more than anyone with any sense should be. Things that have kept him busy include: booking shows, working at The Vera Project, working at record stores (Fallout Records, and currently Singles Going Steady), playing in bands and doing a hardcore/punk radio show for 3 years at KSPC, Claremont, CA. Nick likes walks on the beach and songs about nuclear holocaust.
Brian bought his first album when he was 9 years old and since then he's written for some 'zines, ran a crappy record label in the mid 1990s, did some micro radio broadcasting & has been booking punk shows in Seattle since 1998. He also likes to pretend "Space Bars" (The Food The Astronauts Eat!) is poop, but doesn't like to talk about that too much.
V/A - Murder Punk Vols 1 & 2 - (MPI)
I just can't stop listening to these 2 collections of Austrialan Punk singles circa 77-82. Early stuff by the Scientists, The Fun Things, The Victims, etc..... This is some of the best stuff out there!
Coachwhips - Bangers Vs. Fuckers (Narnack)
Crazy noisy garage junk from SF. Beyond putting on one of the best live shows I've ever seen, this album just won't leave me alone! I can hear it calling me right now........
Operation S - S/T (Broken Rekids)
Great new wavey punk from France. X-member of the No Talents
Intelligence - Boredom And Terror LP w/bonus CD (Omnibus/Narnack)
I really loved the art damaged yet melodic weirdness of the first Intelligence CD, but now it's on vinyl with an free 10 song CD included. Words escape me!
Invisible Eyes - Demo (Self release)
This Seattle garage/Psych group just got signed to Bomp Records. Couldn't happen to a better local band!
