My show comes together in a completely organic way. No matter how much I
plan throughout the week and carefully select CDs and LPs before my show,
I invariably end up hearing a bassline or a beat or a thread in the music
that makes me think of "the perfect song" to follow the one I'm playing
and dash into the music library with a minute or two left in the song to
grab the "perfect" next song. I do this all night long for the duration of
my 4-hour show. So, every show is intimate and absorbing, and often
exhausting, musical experience blending a wide range of musical styles
and reflecting whatever mood I'm in at any given time.

You'll hear a wide range of sounds on my show but I'm definitly a sucker
for old soul (Al Green, Sam Cooke, The Isley Brothers), shoegazer brit
pop/rock (Gomez, The Beta Band, The Dandy Warhols, Catherine Wheel),
full-on wall-of-sound guitar assualt (juno, jane's addiction, smashing
pumpkins), singer-songwriter pop/rock (joseph arthur, richard buckner,
david garza, turin brakes, spoon, elliot smith), and funky groovin' hip
hop (spearhead, gang starr, beastie boys). It feels too confining to try
to list the thousands of artists that I love and play. It seems like I
learn about some great new artist or band every week. The great thing
about KEXP is that great new music comes in nearly every day. I love
experimenting with all this new music and mixing it with all the great
older stuff that still deserves to be played.
Even after nearly 10 years on this same station, I love doing every single
show as much as I did the first time I was on the air. With so much
amazing music in the world, the freedom to play any song you want is
exhilarating.

Luke Temple - Hold A Match For A Gasoline World) (Mill Pond) This CD is simply beautiful. Luke has a voice that bring to mind Jeff
Buckley and Finn Andrews of the The Veils.
Teenage Fanclub - Man-Made) (Merge) They've hit another homerun with a new CD, coming out in June, that makes
me smile so hard my face hurts.
Spoon - Gimme Fiction) (Merge) Please do not let Britt Daniel EVER stop making music. He never
disappoints.
Various Artists - Verve Remixed 3) (Verve) What a wonderful idea to have all these great artists remixing tracks
from the outstanding Verve catalog. These compilations just keep getting
stronger and stronger.
Fischerspooner - Odyssey) (Capitol) Hard driving beats that make me dance and smile (at the same time).
