Oceanwires is the self-described anti-collaborative project between Dave Einmo (Head Like a Kite), Aaron Starkey (Gibraltar), Jeff Baars (Mike Johnson, Long Dark Moon), and Samantha Wilder (Princess). Beginning three years ago as a project between Eino and Starkey, their idea was to move away from established ideas about songwriting and collaboration.

In February, they released their debut record There Never Was a Was, recorded and produced by legendary Seattle producer Steve Fisk (Nirvana, Car Seat Headrest, Naked Giants, Soundgarden, Low, Beat Happening) and Matt Bayles (Minus the Bear, Mastodon). Our Song of the Day is the album’s propulsive lead single “Beware the Heartless,” that takes inspiration from early aughts alternative.
