Oakland ensemble Club Night is made up of veterans of the Oakland indie rock scene, with leader Josh Bertram first gaining international attention with the band My Brother The Native a decade ago.

Their current project is propulsive and chaotic, taking from a wide range of influences including Los Campesinos!, Built To Spill, Destroyer, and the Go! Team. In 2017, they debuted their first EP Hell Ya and this week they’re following it up with their debut full-length What Life.

Our Song of the Day, “Mute,” originally appeared on split 7-inch with previous Song of the Day “Trance” in October. Both appear on the new album. “Mute” starts out sedate but turns into a raging rocker, changing tempo and cadence consistently to keep us on our toes. What Life is out this Friday, April 5 via Tiny Engines.

Below, watch the claymation video for Hell Ya track “Shear.”
