Seattle renaissance man Rudy Willingham holds a number of titles including DJ, producer, photographer, and advertising guru. As a DJ, he’s known for throwing over the top yacht parties which he’s channeling in today’s Song of the Day, “Pool Party.”

By taking a sample of a woman calling out to a group of children, “Hey Ladies,” to which they respond with an enthusiastic “Yeah!,” she enquires about where they’re going to which is – of course – the pool. This call-and-response repeats throughout the entire two-and-a-half minutes over a funky, retro groove and killer saxophone line. It’s an incredibly fun and catchy song that will make you ache for the days of summer.

In 2017, Willingham’s single “Why?” was another KEXP Song of the Day. Sneak a peek at one of the infamous Seafair cruises Willingham DJ’s in the video below.
