English musician, songwriter, composer, producer John Parish released his sixth solo album, Bird Dog Dante, last month. For the single "Sorry For Your Loss," Parish recruited longtime collaborator PJ Harvey to come in for vocals. The song pays tribute to Sparklehorse frontman Mark Linkous, who died by suicide eight years ago. Linkous was a mutual friend and past collaborator, with Parish producing the 2001 Sparklehorse album A Wonderful Life. Parish and Harvey's relationship goes back more than 20 years, beginning with Harvey's debut solo album, 1995's To Bring You My Love, which Parish co-produced. Bird Dog Dante is Parish's first solo record since 2013's Screenplay. “Like all of my records, Bird Dog Dante was recorded all over the place in odd situations, because I’ll have an idea somewhere and want to record it, then I actually end up liking the sound of that specific recording and want to incorporate it,” Parish said in a statement. Harvey's last studio album was 2016's The Hope Six Demolition Project, which Parish co-produced and also joined her touring band behind the release.
