Wisconsin’s Collections of Colonies of Bees have existed in a number of forms for two decades, starting as a duo made up of Chris Rosenau and Jon Mueller (Mueller now focuses solely on his post-rock band Pele). With the group’s upcoming album, HAWAII, they've added singer Marielle Allschwang, making it the first Collections of Colonies of Bees album with a vocalist. Our song of the day, “Ruins,” is the album's lead single. The pulsing, six-and-a-half minute song meanders semi-aimlessly, tricking listeners into thinking it's over many times before its actual ending. HAWAII is out this Friday, July 13 via Polyvinyl.
