Minneapolis band Chatham Rise has been making a blend of shoegaze and spacey psychedelic music since 2011. Our song of the day, "Hummingbird," comes off their upcoming album Meadowsweet, out this Friday, May 25 via Picture In My Ear Records. Chatham Rise told KEXP the inspiration behind the song, saying: "Hummingbird is a metaphor about the elusiveness of the pursued in the early stages of courtship...attraction that evolves from a gentle shyness, really." Meadowsweet is the band's second full-length LP and features guest performances from Moogy, Helena Espvall, and Peter Anderson, with much of the recording and mixing taking place at Pearl and Blue Bell Knoll Studios in Minneapolis. The video for "Hummingbird," compiled by videographer Blood Meridian, sees a CGI hummingbird fly from one person to the next, conjuring a feeling of connectedness.
