Portland by way of New Zealand band Unknown Mortal Orchestra released their fourth studio album Sex & Food at the beginning of the month. Today's song of the day is the lead single from the album, "American Guilt." With a ripping guitar riff and muffled vocals, the song upholds bandleader Ruban Nelson's proclaimed desire to "embrace this abandoned genre of rock music that I keep reading is ‘dead’ and invite people to hear what this living dead genre sounds like in the UMO universe.” Sex & Food follows 2015's fantastic Multi-Love and is out now via Jagjaguwar. KEXP and STG are bringing Unknown Mortal Orchestra to the Moore Theatre on Monday, May 7 to perform with UK band Makeness.
