Seattle superproducer Erik Blood recently unveiled a powerful new single commenting on the frequency of mass shootings in the US and the need for gun control. "The Future Was Here" features a staggering list of big names in the Seattle music scene, such as Ishmael Butler (aka Palaceer Lazaro) of Shabazz Palaces, Stas THEE Boss, Adra Boo, Mirrorgloss, OCNotes, Tacocat's Emily Nokes, Pickwick's Alex Westcoat and Galen Disston, Irene Barber of Nearby/Dust Moth, Michael Mcki of Spesh, Marquetta Miller of Breaks and Swells, Grey Waves' Jesse Hughey, Indian Agent's Silver Jackson, and Larry Mizell, Jr. Blood makes his stance clear, with the chorus repeating the lyrics: "Time to pay for all your crimes / I’m taking all your guns" over a jazzy bassline. Blood's last solo studio album was 2016's Lost in Slow Motion. - Jasmine Albertson
