Long-running Philadelphia-based band Dr. Dog return this Spring with their tenth album, Critical Equation. The new release finds the guys taking a break from recording themselves and working with producer/engineer Gus Seyffert (Beck, Michael Kiwanuka). Via a press release, bassist/singer Toby Leaman explains, “We needed somebody to be the boss, somebody to be in charge of us in the studio. It’s not the way we’ve ever worked before, but we really trusted Gus.” Seyffert's influence shines on today's featured track, a characteristically retro-romp recorded to 16-track analog tape. Critical Equation will be released April 27th via Thirty Tigers. They play Saturday, June 9th at the Moore Theatre.
