About Radio New York
Radio New York is a part of NYC Media Group, launched in January 2005 to manage the media assets of the City of New York: one broadcast television channel and five cable television channels known collectively as NYC TV; one broadcast radio station, Radio New York; and the production and syndication arms that produce and distribute New York City-centric content all over the world across multiple platforms.
Over the past three years, NYC TV has won 14 New York Emmy Awards and been nominated 34 times. The network has also been awarded 14 Telly Awards for outstanding content.
NYC TV’s most popular programs include The Bridge and New York Noise. The Bridge goes back to hip-hop’s golden era with classic music videos. In each episode, host Ralph McDaniels showcases rare videos that trace hip-hop’s evolution in New York City, featuring early hip-hop icons such as Afrika Bambaataa and Grandmaster Flash as well as persistent crowd pleasers LL Cool J and Queen Latifah.
New York Noise showcases indie and underground music that’s hard to find anywhere else on TV. Each hour-long episode is packed with cutting-edge music videos from New York City bands, labels, directors and beyond. Features include exclusive interviews, features and live performances featuring Radio Liberation favorites such as Beirut, Broken Social Scene, The Knife, Tapes ‘n Tapes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, CSS, Spoon and many more.
Building on its success in television, NYC Media Group is now transforming Radio New York (Radio New York 91.5 FM). While keeping its commitment to airing diverse ethnic and cultural programs, Radio New York looks to attract new listeners with a slate of innovative talk and music programs. Radio New York’s strengthened lineup will further complement its sister television stations that are part of NYC TV. Learn more about Radio New York and NYC Media Group.
