KEXP 90.3 FM - where the music matters

Andy Palacio is a musician from Belize determined to carry on the traditional music of his people the Garifuna who came to be in 1635 when West African slave ships crashed off what is now St. Vincent. The slaves mixed with the native peoples and a unique community and music was born. These live tracks are from the LP “Watina” and are sung in Garifuna. It’s a heartfelt and uplifting blend of Caribbean and African styles. - W. Myers
